Yield Components of Maize and Effect of Nitrogen Level: A Review

Aarti Chopra

Abstract

Abstract

A field experiment was done to understand the effect of nitrogen levels on maize poppulation. Most number of days to tasseling (15), silking (16) and maturity (18) were recorded with the presentation of nitrogen at 105 kg ha-1. Higher plant height (102 cm), leaf area plant (1275 cm2 were recorded with application of 105 kg N ha-1 which was statistically similar to 108 and 100 kg N ha-1. Advanced biological yield (1289 kg ha-1) was recorded from 150 kg N ha-1 which was similar to 105 kg N ha-1. Plant population of 5000 plants ha-1 took more number of days to above mentioned procedures. Taller plants (109 cm) were restrained for plant population of 5000 plants ha-1. Maximum number of leaves were recorded for plant population of 8000 plants ha-1. Higher leaf area plant (2585 cm2) and leaf area index (2.59) were logged for 5000 plants ha-1 which was statistically at par with 80000 plants ha-1.
