Abstract

Abstract

The present investigation entitled, Studies on postharvest life of tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa) was carried out at the farm laboratory of the Department of Floriculture and Landscape Architecture, Dr. Y. S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan (H.P.) during 2011-2012. The three experiments on standardization of pulsing solutions, wrapping materials and storage durations and holding solutions were conducted under completely randomized design (CRD). Three hundred cut stems of  tuberose pulsed in solution comprising of Sucrose (5%) + Al2(SO4)3.16H2O (300 ppm) for 12 h duration were wrapped in cellophane and stored for 72 h in cool chamber at 4ºC and finally packed in CFB box (outer size: 1000×415×220 mm and inner size: 980×395×220 mm) of 5 ply strength  improved longevity when held in Sucrose (3%) + Al2(SO4)3.16H2O (500 ppm)  as holding solution.
