Abstract

ABSTRACT
Growing trees has become miracle but a complex chemical engineering. As we evolved, trees have provided additional necessity such as shelter, medicine, and tools. Moving to higher level of modernization, supply of necessities becomes limited and hence gap of demand-supply has created huge incremental cost and deterioration of health. Needless to mention that, we fail to maintain growth of tree diversity at the same pace we have grown and hence we are now paying for it. Vasna is situated in western part of Ahmedabad city at 23º 00′ N 72º 32′ E and @170 feet above sea level height. Due to close proximity of Sabarmati river, Vasna is quite rich in tree density. With an objective to study tree species, we have visited this area couple of times. During our visits, we have taken couple of snaps. Present paper deals with 72 tree species including 5 major species like Azadirachta indica A. Juss. (Limdo-Meliaceae), Jatropha Gossypifolia (Jatropha-Euphorbiaceae), Peltophorum pterocarpum D. (Tamraphali-Caesalpinia), Caesalpinia pulcherima (L) sw. (Galtoro-Caesalpiniaceae), Casuarina equisetifolia L. (Mayurpankhi, Sharu – Casuarinaceae). The collected plants were brought to the laboratory, identified, and classified to their respective species level with the help of flora [1, 2, 3]. The plant specimens were dried up with customary method and were mounted on herbarium sheets and labeled. Plants have been arranged alphabetically.
