Rabiya Mushtaq Rather, Masood Ahmad Bhat

Abstract

Analysing the bibliometric or scientometric aspect of any field of knowledge is very prime to understand the research trends in this dimension. Present study is an attempt to gain an insight into the research output of a medicinal plant (Crocus Sativus/Saffron). In order to assess the research output on Crocus Sativus or Saffron Web of Science database was used to extract the data. The results depict that Iran (700, 28.31%) is the leading nation followed by Peoples Republic of China (223; 9.02%) and the others regarding nature of access open access (607; 24.91%) is less highlighted and closed access (1829; 75.08%) more, the calculated values of relative growth rate and doubling time depict an  inverse relationship between the two. With regard to medium of communication articles are highly preferred and English language dominates the scene after analysing the linguistic parameter.
