Abstract

Drinking water quality is of elemental importance to human physiology and the durability of humanity depends very much upon its capability. The present work is aimed to review the quality of spring’s water in the rural area in district Rajouri. The three springs are named as Gopishah Ki Bowli, Khark Bowli and Badi Bowli. This has been determined by collecting spring water samples and subjecting the samples to a comprehensive physicochemical analysis. The physicochemical parameters like temperature, free carbon dioxide, total alkalinity, pH, calcium harness, magnesium hardness, have been analyzed. The findings of the analysis will prove to be quite informative to the daily consumers of the water. Water samples were collected on bi-monthly basis. The results were compared with Bureau of Indian Standard for drinking water (BIS) World Health Organization (WHO) and Indian Standard specification (IS). The result indicates that certain sources of water are suitable for drinking and other household consumption for the people of the same area.
