Qualitative Assessment of Floristic Diversity of Fringes and Some Bets (Islands) of Little Rann of Kachchh (LRK), Gujarat, India

Abstract


Abstract

The present study deals with floristic diversity of fringes and bets (Islands) of Little Rann of Kachchh (LRK), Gujarat carried out during October 2015 to March 2017. During the study, transect method had been applied for floral study. The study recorded a total of 210 species of plants which included 22 species of trees, 26 species of shrubs, 108 species of herbs, 33 species of grasses and 21 species of climbers. The Western fringe had maximum species richness with 180 species and Northern fringe had lowest species richness with 20 species. Similarly, Jilandhar bet had maximum species richness with 35 species and Khijadiya bet had the lowest species richness with only 7 species.
