Critical Guidelines for TiO2 and Ultraviolet Light Induced Disinfection in Upper Ceiling Mounted Device

rohit s. mane, Sunil Kumar Patil

Abstract

In-room air cleaners and upper room air UV light germicidal irradiation are designing control technologies that can assist with lessening the groupings of airborne microscopic organisms and contagious spores in the indoor climate. The upper ceiling mounted device is sealed with TiO2 and UV light which is efficient in action due to photocatalytic activity. TiO2 absorbs UV light strongly as compared to sun light and they form hydroxyl radicals. It happens due to photoinduced valence bond holes trapped on TiO2 surface which leads to no oxidation of water. This property of TiO2 with UV light makes special against pathogens to purify the air. Alone TiO2 and UV light creates their own impact on microbes at 86% while together they show 99%. Therefore, the UV-TiO2 upper ceiling mounted device would be the efficient air purifier and disinfector.
