Kinetics of Non-isothermal Crystallization of Ge-Se-Sn Chalcogenide Glasses

Abstract
The calorimetric measurements of as-prepared Ge30-xSe70Snx (8≤x≤20) chalcogenide glasses have been performed using differential scanning calorimetery (DSC) at five different heating rates (10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 Kmin-1) under non-isothermal conditions. These non-isothermal calorimetric measurements have been analyzed in terms of activation energy (Ec), Avrami exponent, dimensionality of growth, frequency factor, Ko(sec-1), half time of crystallization,t1/2(min) and crystallization rate parameter. These kinetic parameters have been evaluated using different theoretical approaches such as; Kissinger model, Ozawa model, Augis-Bennett, Matusita model, Gao-Wang model, Avrami model and Mo׳s approach. It has been observed that the activation energy of crystallization Ec (KJmole-1) is composition dependent. The activation energy decreases with increasing Sn content due to the decreasing rate of crystallization. It has also been observed that the half-time of crystallization decreases with increasing heating rate because when heating rate increases crystallization rate become faster.
