A cross-sectional study was carried out at Regional Veterinary Laboratory, Pokhara to determination of the seroprevalence and associated risk factors of toxoplasmosis in purposively collected 568 serum samples of goat in May and June of 2018, from 3 different districts of mid-terai region of Nepal. In which total 184 samples were randomly selected and performed c-ELISA test for the detection of antibodies of Toxoplasma gondii. After collection and coding of data, relation of age, sex, breed, farming system, locality and presence of cat to seropositivity were analyzed in Microsoft Excel 2010 and association of risk factors analyzed with significance level defined at p<0.05 in Chi-squared test was done by IBM SPSS Statistics 20. Out of 184 tested samples, the overall prevalence was found to be 34.78% (64/184), with highest in Nawalparasi (48.43%) followed by Rupandehi (38.33%) and Kapilvastu (16.67%). The prevalence rate among male and female goat were 18.86% and 41.22% respectively and rate of exotic breed (43.1%) followed by cross breed (39.24%) were higher than local breed (17.02%). Similarly goat of age group > 2 year have higher prevalence rate (45.12%) compared to age group 1–2 years (28.57%) and age group <1 year (21.87%). Prevalence without presence of cat was lower (22.61%) than with presence of cat (45%). Among different risk factors associated with seropositivity of toxoplasmosis, farming system was non-significantly higher prevalence in semi-intensive system (39.63%) than intensive system (27.39%) and other were statistically significant(p<0.05).The finding of the current study showed 34.78% seroprevalence in goat of this study area and indicates high risk of toxoplasmosis for animal and human in mid-terai region, so further research to find out zoonotic impact and economic losses due to diseases should be carried out.
