Knowledge, Attitude of Traditional Medicine among the Rural Communities of Bilaspur District (C.G.) India

Abstract


The herbs are still widely used in traditional medicine to treat a variety of ailments. Herbal medicines are natural and intrinsically harmless and have their own anti-disease effects. There are many tribal-dominated communities residing in the state of Chhattisgarh, who are very aware of the usefulness of medicinal plants. Medicinal valuable plant species are used for various diseases and disorders, diagnosis and cure by tribal communities of Bilaspur district and for the treatment of complex diseases. In this research work, data has been collected about the use of 52 types of medicinal plant species by rural tribals people of Bilaspur district for the treatment of various diseases. The study of traditional knowledge of the local villagers and tribes emphasizes the need to compile the knowledge of the usefulness of medicinal plants in various diseases so as to keep them alive. The present investigation revealed that these plant species are used against various diseases, i.e., Dysentery, Conjunctivitis, Cuts, Cancer, Chickenpox, Contraceptive, Dental Problem, Dog bite, Swelling, and other diseases by the traditional medicine of rural tribals. For this, an appropriate dosage of pharmacogenetic preparation from different parts of plant body such as root, rhizome, bulb, leaves, bark, wood, flower, fruit, seed etc., is used
